haha - well I will be needing a couple in the not too distant future - was looking at the Falkens, but Michelins could be good! Especially for that money!

There's no way those tyres are worth $500 each. Don't believe any tyre company that tells you they are. They are just charging you a massive premium because you have relatively big wheels and they fall in the performance category.

Yeah, not stingy at all. Considering it's a marketing ploy by Bridgestone to gain acceptance of their tyres.

They have identified their target market, identified what cars they drive, Identified what they want to sell to them - Marketing 101.

Hence, do a cost deal with Holden and get the mark to purchase their retail Bridgestones when they wear out.

Oh yeah, have you seen the wear factor on these tyres? 120 from memory - should last 25,000 MAX gentle driving. Won't be too long before you go back to tyre power. I'd probably boycott the Bridgestones on principle tho...

I am confused. My Potenzas are the originals still going strong at 56,000. I do drive a manual, so have engine braking available if I anticipate, but I have not been deliberately "soft" on the tyres.

I have seen a set of four VE International 18in rims with the Bridgestone 245/45R18 Potenzas for $1,000 as a special at a Holden dealer last week. The VE SS rims and the tyres were $1,400 per set. Could save a fortune over just buying the tyres. Maybe that is why so many VE SS rims appear for sale lately?

I've used stock Bridgestones and Falken FK452 and I find the FK452 better, especially in the wet.

    I can do 245/45R18 FK452's for $267 each.

    Cheers,

    Brad

the potenza 050a the factory tyre but the 001 is just as good. the potenza range is really good. they are designed as a performance tyre. i personally would prefer to fit them to a car then any other tyre. altho working for jobsons (owned by bridgestone) makes me a bias

If you're worried about tyre cost and have an SSV just put 245 35 19 on. Can get them for $100 on ebay!

Any 245/35R19 that sells for $100 must be SUCH a **** tyre. Why buy a great car that comes with great tyres then downgrade stuff? Tyres are probably THE most important part of a car.

I am honestly not a fan of the stock bridgestones. Mine were knackered by 16-17,000 and it was not driven very hard in that time. And the grip after 50% was ordinary at best. Horrible in the wet. I'd say they weren't as sticky as the cheapy kumho's I'm on at the moment - which probably won't last a lot longer than the bridgestones but were less than half the price.

I'm very keen to try the FK 452s, and will likely grab them for my next set. Or some Michelin PS2s if I can get them for a good price. Won't be going with bridgestone again though - too much of them seems to be hype. Certainly not as good as the $$$ suggest. The adrenalins seem like a good option, but I think I'll be going elsewhere. Having said that, not sure I'll be putting another set of kumhos on either - very grippy but sidewalls are a little soft for my liking and the wear isn't particularly even.
