    hi guys,

I am considering purchasing some redline wheels, and want to powder coat them thunder charcoal grey and I have a few questions.

would it be possible to powder coat the redline rims due to there chrome finish? (I'm assuming sand blasting would just strip them back to bare metal?)

Does anyone know the colour code for the thunder charcoal grey rims?

Could someone recommend a good powder coater in Brisbane south-east, that would do the 4 rims for a decent price? (i have done on research and have found the average price is around $45 a rim?)

    cheers.

    Hi,
If you're talking about 2012 SSV redline rims 99.9999999% sure they are polished aluminium alloy, not chromed.

If power coating them they need to be sand blasted so the finish doesn't matter...... Btw they are a clear coated finish

I,d be tempted to do what VS-S suggested.Do one wheel so you can install it and compare it,actually fit it with tyre and install it on the car,its no use just painting it and sitting it on the hub as that doesnt really give the whole impression and that way if you feel they looked better with the original finish you havent stuffed them all by sand blasting and its a simple procedure to return it to its former state with no damage done to the rim caused by a heavy handed blaster operator or the size of the blast media implimented.I know at work when anything had to be re powder coated the powdercoaters always only ever dipped it in a tank to remove the old finish, never blasted anything.I think alot depends on the powder coaters and the equipment they have invested in to get the desired result. But I would not have all the wheels blasted, coated, only to have them on the car for a week and say;**** i wished i,d left them original,
Just my 2 bobs worth, cheers bud
