I use a few regular routes when driving and monitor instant fuel numbers, lets say a long steady climb on the motorway at a constant 100km/h that I traverse regularly. To do it properly I should actually set it at the correct rpm points that match the tuning tables. Then you need to take into consideration engine and air temps etc. I was really waiting for summer as I use warm engine and air temps as my base and then I adjust to suit cooler air.

I'm getting fairly close now, throttle response is getting great, using less throttle and the brake pedal is firm which shows good engine vacuum which the vacuum/boost gauge confirms. cruising down the motorway I'm basically seeing the same engine vacuum as I do at idle.

would come down to injector pulse width/rpm, if ur IPW is 2ms at 1000rpm and 2.5ms at 2000rpm or even under more load at 1000rpm its 2.5ms then ur still better then the higher rpm as the higher u go u have to multiply it by rpm so same IPW but double the amount of squirts at 2000rpm

In 6th, I'm doing 1000rpm at 60kmph.

My manual L77 doesn't see 6th until at least 90.

5th not before 80.

Anything less just doesn't feel right.

I didn't buy a 6 litre to be too worried about fuel consumption.

My 3, all autos, are 'shift denied' below 70kph, drop back to 5th at 65kph, in manual, sport or auto.
That's an L77 with a 2.92 rear end, and 2 LS3's with 3.27 rear ends.

Don't quite understand.

So won't shift to 6th below 70 ?

I have a manual L77 with a 3.45 diff. I noticed that on a downhill stretch at 60 to 70 Km/h in 5th gear it gets down to 0.0 L/Km. But if it's in 6th gear it won't get down to 0.0. Beats me??

more decel/vacuum in 5th compared to the 6th so it may not quite trip the values to enter DFCO

This, 6th is a highway gear. I commuted mine for 6 months in Melbs, 30 mins drive each way, 99% 60kph with lots of lights.
My fuel consumption was driven by waiting at lights, then the initial acceleration up back up to 60. Even taking it easy you'll be doing over 20 l/100km
Now mine is a weekender I get better consumption blasting round the ranges than pootling round town.

and E10 in an LS3 o_O
You can argue 98 busts the performance/price ratio but 95 is easily worth it. Mine makes a much bigger rumble off throttle with 95+. Worth the price of admission alone.

EDIT: also regarding the original title, I found this page once. Not sure how accurate it is.
