Power steering adjustments?

    Hey guys,
    My calais power steering is wayyyyy to light as in it is to easy to turn the wheel, i drive my dads Ls8 Stateman and also his corvette and both have heavier steering. is there a way to make it heavier?

    Not adjustable. Speed sensitive. The faster you go the heavier it gets.

    i know this and my dads stateman does that aswell but its just to light at all speeds

    Being a Vt, now that they're around 15 yrs old, pressure switch or rack itself may be rooted.

    it was all replaced before i got it .. about a month ago :\

    They are very light at low speed, presumably so that you feel like you got your money's worth with it but should weight up as you go faster. Hard to tell if there's an issue with it from text though.

    There was an article in Autospeed about altering the weight of variable assistance power steering a few years ago. There was also some discussion of it on here around the same time. You might want to look for those if you don't mind mod's.

    The variable assistance solenoid is controlled via PWM from the BCM with the pulse width reducing with speed to increase steering effort, so it should be theoretically possible to simply put a big fat resistor in the circuit to reduce assistance. According to the service manual peak current is 0.75A.
