Hi,
I have a vz thunder S pac Ute 2006. Once you put any power into it the powertrain light comes on and engine light whole car shutters and have to turn the car off and on. Car will also constantly misfire. Had a mechanic look it over and check the codes only think that cane up was cylinder 6 misfire he checked and cleared it all good but still misfiring. Shouldn’t be the timing chain as no codes come up and there is no ticking, whining and oil is good. Left and 5 minutes later same thing. Anyone know what it could be?

Move cylinder 6 coil to another cylinder see if it moves misfire code.

The mechanic took it off and the car shuttered as is should and re plugged in and it was fine, which supposedly means the cylinder is fine?

The coils can fail under load, ie acceleration.
You would need to change the coilpack for another, clear the code & go for a drive.

This is correct. A good mechanic would swap the coil to another cylinder for the above reason.

What the mechanic did was a good step but didn’t take it to the next step.

Also running the car with a tech2 or similar plugged in would give enough data to someone trained to identify the problem better.

Change all 6 coils, spark plugs and gasket and problem seems to be fixed, need to clear engine light still but seems to be alright so far.

If that was the problem, the light should stop coming on eventually once the computer is happy with long term data. The fault will still be there until a diagnostic device is used.

The light stopped coming on after 1-2 days, getting the codes cleared with the device now
