I've got a couple of quotes but they vary a fare bit and I'm not quite sure if some are to cheap/expensive so here goes, the quotes all involved the following work
    - Cam
    - Lifters
    - Dual row timing chain
    - Shaved heads
    - Double row timing chain
    - Tune
and the quotes ranged from $4600 to $5700 does that sound about right?
I'm open to all opinions/feedback, and I plan on booking it in next week or so.
Not sure if I've put this the right section but if I haven't then I'm sure someone will move it.

    Those prices sound fair.
With the work you want to do, I would be more than happy to pay a few hundred dollars more knowing I'm taking the car to a place with a good reputation.

might pay to plug a nice big cooler into the box or at least run a full synth fluid (runs much cooler but expensive to fill) if you plan on running a stally. thought about a set of diff gears as well? maybe a 3.7 or even a 3.9 ratio would be sweet

I'll get it changed while they're at it and check the size of the cooler when I'm down there next, it has 3.7's from the factory.

You are correct, it does say that. Unfortunately they are wrong lol.

    *edit*

    I will elaborate a touch.

HSV use both the 3.27 and 3.7 for auto and manual transmissions respectfully. The part number's are common GM part number's 92223668 (3.27) and 92223667 (3.70).

In the VE series, differential breakdown for V8's are:-

    Commodore:
    2.92 for auto
    3.45 for manual

    HSV:
    3.27 for auto
    3.70 for manual
