Okay, My VR commodore has knocking noises coming from everywhere..

How much would it cost to have my Transmission rebuilt? - Could I just get my transmission looked at and serviced?
The transmission runs fine, but Down shifting from 2nd to 1st (I think) makes clunking noises, Putting it in gear it will clunk (Mainly reverse and Park). and also while traveling at a high speed and I take my foot off for a second and reapply it will clunk like your slamming it into gear or something

My brakes are starting to squel and my Left brake likes to sometimes clunk when coming to a stop. Ive been told my pads need replacing, Ive only noticed the left brake playing up since I had work done on the side. (Had a broken wheel stud)

One more thing. When I first purchased the car, It came with Cut springs and GT gas shocks.
Shortly after I had my springs replaced for a pedders touring spring and nothing touched with the shocks..
Would it be worth purchasing new shocks?

Thanks for anyhelp..

Transmission problems sound like either bad engine/transmission mounts or a bad universal joint. The brakes sound like pads need replacing - do this soon as otherwise you will ruin the discs....also check everything that moves on the left side...maybe caliper bolts are loose. You should only need new shocks if they leak or the car bounces ....rubber mounts can be replaced.

may i suggest a link pin kit? this will tighten everything up under the front and maybe eliminate that clunk when you pull up. i think from memory they are $60-$120 depending on what u want to spend

Hako, I was thinking bad Uni Joints, How much would new pads cost + fitting? How would I check the caliper bolts are loose?

Mr.HG.. I took it to pedders when I first got it.. Spent $880 on the front end and new springs at the back.. -$300 labour
Bushes, H/Duty Linkpin Kit, Tie rod end. This was over 5000K's now.

Thanks for that :)

Why not change the pads yourself? :) I'm sure there's a how-to somewhere.
And the prices vary heaps depending on what ones you get. Bendix are pretty good, maybe go look at them for a start.
And chuck a spanner on the bolts and see how tight they are, should be fairly damn tight I think.

Hmph, I did have a read on about it. Im not to keen TBH.. Id prefer taking it to a mechanics, If there is other problems they could possibly tell me.. Instead of me bringing my car in.. and saying my brakes have totally been thrown out the window.. and I need heaps of repairs..
Getting to a problem before its gets worse? if there is a problem :\

Im really not keen on undercar work.. -Most stuff under there will save my life :p

New pads fitted...maybe $150 plus another $80 if they say the rotors need skimming.
