I just put on a cai on my VSII "yay" but there is a hose from the radiator that rubbs on the chute ( I think its for cooling the trans ) so when that gets hot so will the plastic shute therefor heating the air inside.

    :rip:
    really cold air

Yeah it is the transmission cooler piping.

I wouldn't worry about it, I had the CAI on my VS Berlina for years and never had any issues with the heat of the cooler pipes going across the intake. The whole engine bay will warm up anyway, as will the snorkel sitting above the radiator, and with the amount of time that the air actually spends in the intake, it won't make much difference if any.

If you are really concerned about it, you could try using a longer length of cooling hose to go up and over the intake tube, or failing that, you might be able to get a right angled fitting off the radiator to direct the hose down underneath the intake.

The OTR snorkel getting hot from the radiator itself is more heat affected than anything else and is one of the reasons I changed over to Mace's new enclosed pod CAI.
the pod is isolated from the under bonnet with cold air coming in from all around the headlight area.
That hose touching isn't covering enough area to make a difference to the chute pipe, as Harvs82 said the whole engine bay heats up and unless you drive without a bonnet heat is always going to be present especially after the whole intakes system, snorkel chute airbox and inlet tubes has reached ambient under bonnet temp.

    Cheers SW

Dont worry about it, the air is moving through the CAI at a rate in which the air in not being dramatically heated
