Hey ppl I was trying to take the dash out of the car today, and in doing so, the front face of the cd player came off, anyway i managed to get it back on without any dramas. Removed the whole head unit and unplugged it aswell. Trouble is now, when i plugged it back in and turned on the ACC to test it, i have a error message on the screen, it displayed at first: 1 CdE then i tried pressing the numbers of my pin for it, but afterwards now it says the same error message, but instead of a small 1 being on the left its now a 2. I had a CD in the unit at the time, but i cant get it out now either,k the eject button doesnt work and i cant use the radio either. What is the procesdure to put the security pin back in anyway? Please any help would be great cos i really hope its ok, dont wana have to replace it. Thanks.
yeah pretty sure your either not enetering the code correctly or its the wrong code. thats why it came up with 2, and if you enter the wrong code 4 times then it locks itself or something, not too sure.
When the head unit is turned on after disconnecting it, you simply key in your four digit code and it should work. I assume the number 1 is the first attempt and the number 2 is the second attempt, but I'm only guessing here. Maybe your code is incorrect. Have you ever set the code before? Edit: too slow, sorry to repeat the answer.
no i havent set the code before, but when i bought the car the bloke who owned it sed he had to do it before and it was fine. Weird thig is though, when i try to enter the code, it only displays one digit and you dont see the next 3 digits at all, its like you're changing tracks on the thing.
i left it disconnected for half an hour to reset it, just tried the pin again, shes a goer. I think i might have pressed 5 too many times before, the 1st 2 numbers r 5, so i think thats why it didnt work before, but yeah its up n running again. Thanks for ur help.
I'm pretty sure when i put my pin code in it only displays the first and third numbers, one at a time
It had me fkd the other week when I had to borrow the battery to use in another car. Luckily, the code was scribbled in the owner's manual. The insrtuctions in there aren't very clear, either. The system is flawed in these things. Unlike the Toyota setups I'm used to dealing with, you can't wipe the code completely (so that it doesn't come back next time you lose power). Why you would want a security code on a stock head unit is beyond me.
