I normally drive around town in 3, and when I got to 80km/h I drop it into D and the car goes into overdrive all Normal.(power mode not on)

When I put cruise ON at 80kh/h the car will automatically drop back to 3rd. And power button is not on??

I have to hit about 95km/h before it goes into overdrive. This is in my newly purchased VT. My old VS did not do this.

So why is my cruise control affecting the overdrive at 80??

Thanks.

mine does this too and the reason being 80km/h in 4th(overdrive, whatever), the engine will lag and has to drop down a gear, then it will shift back up and down up and down.... with mine if i'm on a flat road at 80km/h without cruise it'll sit in 4th fine, the second you start going up a incline it downshifts...

Cruise Control And Automatic Transmissions :

This should answer your question

CRUISE CONTROL AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS :

If cruise control is maintaining car speed the transmission overrides POWER / ECONOMY selection and operates in CRUISE mode, providing optimum driveability.

CRUISE mode is neither a POWER or ECONOMY pattern and the POWER light switches off when cruise control is maintaining car speed.

HMMM
Obviously something wrong with my car. When I do switch to cruise in power mode power light stays on.
Thanks for responses folks.

stockvs, may i suggest that you have a look in your owners manual under Cruise Control as i was sourcing my info from my VX II Owners Manual.

The operation of the cruise control may or may not be different.

Wagon Man I have had a good read of my owners manual.
Does not say any thing like yours. Just general stuff.

But it is ridiculous that I can cruise in 4th and then I switch cruise on and it drops back to 3rd gear. With no change in road conditions.
