OK well not fitting so much as getting them back where they were.

Today me and my mate dropped the tranny and replaced the trans mount, extension (yoke) seal and the rear main seal (Surpisingly easy)

However to do this we had to drop the pacemaker extractor on the drivers side, it is still kind of in there, we took the removal part off and like a brussle sprout or pubic hair we just brushed it to the side while we worked

now try as hard as we can we cant seem to get it to go back and mount up with the side of the engine, any advice, tips, tricks? we have packed up for today but tommorow straight after work i'll be back at it as I need the car, my girlfriend wont drive me around forever, I was thinking i'll undo the engine mount fromt he bottom and jack the drivers side up a bit, shouldnt be too bad, I replaced that mount last weekend witha little help.

take the extractors off the y-pipe, fit them to the engine then back to the y-pipe.

Hey thanks for the reply but the Y pipe and cat, cat back and extractors are currently all seperated.

    regardless though, thank you.

not sure if there is some magic touch or trick to doing it, after and hour and a half we kind of figured we must be doing something seriously wrong? maybe all that time under the car filled our lungs with c02 causing us to become dumber?

    what exactly is the problem?
will the extractors and the ports line up but you cant get the bolts in? or cant you get them to line up?

Is there something in the way?

Undo the front part of the extractors, bolt the two halves together loosely, then bolt it all back to the head.

    closest call yet.

my mates dad came out this arvo while I was there on my own, hummed and harred for three seconds, then handed me a 16mm and said lets remove the bonnet, a minute later I was under the car, he was above it and the bonnet was gone, he hummed and harred again for about three seconds, grabbed the extractor

(drivers saide has the removable section for the front port, it was removed allready)

and he just slipped it into place, for an hour or so me and my mate had tried to line the extractor up with the ports without success and he did it in seconds, shows what a fresh mind can do aye.

thank you for the replies everyone, next time I have to do extractors I might just brun the bloody thing.
