Problems with VR gears... HELP!

Hey guys... Just wondering if anyone can give me some insight into the problems i'm currently having with my VR gear changes.

The problem is that it seems to be changing gears really late, and when it does, it is really jerking... It won't change til it gets up to about 5, and it wont change into what feels like 4th until I'm doing 80kph, which means that to sit on 60kph comfortably, I first have to boot it up to 80kph so it clicks over.

Its an VR series II BT1 executive, and it's automatic.

Thanks in advance! :)

have you had it serviced in a while, probably have a chat to apex automatics in the city they do a gearbox service + written report for about $140. My mate got his rice car fixed there and they did it for fair price. Do you manually change or do you have it drive and power button off or on?

I used to manually change it when I first got it to go around corners ( I was used to a manual and preferred the feeling of control) but after awhile I got used to just leaving it in drive all the time, and also I have no power button, it's an exec.

check your fluid level but u gota do it when the trans is hot so run it for a couple of minutes turn it off wait a couple of seconds then check.a trans with not enough fluid will thump into gears and shift rather late and harsh.and if it is low check for leaks.a trans with no fluid is bad u can kill the tranny pretty quick

lol... yeah i'm not that blonde.

Oh well, i'll rule out all the obvious stuff first, check the codes and if i'm still having problems with it I suppose i'll take it somewhere and get someone to take a look at it.

The place you mentioned above, is that in Brisbane?

is it changing late in all gears, or just one?...could be a shift solenoid stuffed.
also have a look to see if there's any trans fluid around the pan, a leak might be causing a drop in fluid pressure.
id say your best bet is to have it serviced and go from there.

I do not have a power button at all, I checked again this morning in case I had just never noticed one. Not there.... I thought that was normal for VR exec.

And sircruisealotVS, it happens to two gears.

Anyways, cheers guys, I suppose I'll need to get it looked at as when I was driving to work this morning my check engine light came on as well :( Not cool.

No power button, thats interesting. From memory VN's dont have power button because there trans is not electronic like VR's.
