hey all,

iv got a VN 5 Litre, and one night from dropping the missers off, the beast desided to stop and wouldnt start again. :bang:

I've tryed every thing i could think of, it turns ova and goes to run for about 1 to 2 seconds then shuts off, the fule pump is working coz i can hear it, iv changed the internal fule pump, it wasnt that so my old man thought it could be the coil, still it wont start and run.

i was told from a guy at work that it could be the crank angle sensor or something, i dunno iv givin up, i just wont it to be running again lol, i miss it, but if any one can think of y it wont run, plz let me know or ngive me some idea to work with coz im just lost and to me the next step is to take it to a mechanic wich i dont really wont to. i dont trust em!:ranting:

anyway guys if u can think of something that it could be plz let me know thanx.;)

It's not real effective just replacing stuff at random that *might* be the problem. There are three main reasons why an engine won't start, lack of spark, fuel or compression. It's damned easy to check if you have spark, just pull plugs one or two at a time, and get someone to hold them near the side of the engine bay while you turn it over, if they all spark then thats not the problem. If you've got no spark then you can turn your attention to why. You've said that it starts momentarily but wont run, so spark probably isn't the problem, but it's so easy to check that there's no reason not to. Anyway, if you've got spark then the ignition module is probably not the problem.

Once you've eliminated spark as a problem, then fuel is the next thing to check. If the fuel pump is running and pressurising the line then fuel filter, regulator and injectors would be the next suspects. Just try to approach it logically yeah?

Yeah? dang, thats one tricky little bastard of a component then. In my experience when the ignition module dies the car wont even kick, but I suppose that's one of the hazards of the electronic age, things often aren't as simple as they seem.
