Hi, I'm having trouble getting my VE to accept a new key.

I went through (what I believe is the correct) procedure of inserting the original key, turning ignition on, removing original key and inserting new key and turning ignition on.

The new key will now physically turn the vehicle on but it will not crank and I get a message on the dash indicating that the vehicle is 'immobilized'. The buttons on the new key have no effect on the vehicle.

The original key still works OK.

Do I need to use a tech 2 to program a new key?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah mate need a tech 2 to program the key. Costs about $70 at Holden.
Out of curiosity how much you get the new key for?

I paid about $150 for the flip key and the electronic bit.

I have access to a tech 2. Is there much involved in the programing?
