Programme Index Code

Gday guys’n’girls. Just wondering if anyone can tell me more about the programme index code? I was looking through the tech 2 info on the GM manuals and it says you can edit the code number.

What I’m curious about is if I do edit that number, does it change the functionality of the radio unit?
I have a radio from a ute and want to run it in a sedan. I bought it mistakingly not realising there was a difference.

You just need the PIN # so it should work,
If you don’t have that,
You can source it with a reputable scan tool.
