fair enough.
The Chinese have obviously cracked it as you can buy dongles that plug into the ALDL port and flash / link up to 3 keys.
Its a shame they blow the device after that otherwise I'd be happy to just get one of those.

So I bought a Vident i400AU scan tool recently.
Its supposed to be able to program and link keys, bcm, ecu, etc etc. Reset srs. And so on.
Not sure how the key head bit gets programmed yet.
Have only had 5 minutes playing with it so far to reset my srs.
Looks like I'm up for a clock spring. @ $445 :(

I reckon you would insert the key with the new fob into the ignition switch and turn the ignition to the on position to program the new fob.
The same way the MAP replacement fobs and dongle do it.

I got time to have a 5 minute fiddle with the scan tool.
Yes it said insert new key and turn to on position.
Hopefully I didn't start some sort of process

I don't want to waste time with a second hand clock spring. It will kill fail again later.

It's annoying. I find them online after market for every other car then mine for like $29 or better.

Hurry up Mr China Man. Do some for VY2!

I just tried the Vident 400 model to program a key. Put the new key in ignition, turn to ACC. In scan tool, go to Program Key, then Extra Key option. When it tells you to turn to on, turn key to on, then press F1 button. The dome light goes off and on a few times, finally it proclaims "Programming OK".
Unplug scan tool and voila new key works.

Good to know.
I have one these units (Vident 400). I tried programming the cluster. I was told by the seller, that those functions dont work on the vt. Its good to know the key programming works on the vs. Assumming it'll work on the vt?
