Can I ask why you've chosen a manual OS? Was tre-cool kind enough to give you the OS he used?

It's a thought. What I'm trying to do is trick the Tech 2 into letting me link the VE OS with the VZ security link program. However, I know from previous experience I can't do this until I reset the ECU, which requires the security code. If I could do that, then I could try your 3 x 10 minute relink procedure.

When you reprogram an ECU using SPS, it applies the security code as part of the programming. No way around that unfortunately.
I never programmed the ecu for my vet using sps. i used a normal efilive file & flashed it into a 2nd hand ecu from a ve commodore. did the 10 min ign sequence & on the 3rd start it fired up.

i think there is more to it trying to get the ve os to link to an earlier one, in fact it may not work at all. there is definetly difference in the way the security routines are setup on the early 06 vz os vs 06 ve.

I can't recall the specifics off the top of my head but i certainly remember seeing & mapping some of these "switches". I'll have a look when i get home in a few hours.

yep, theres 3 types of immobilizer algorithms.
NAO = North America Operations
GMIO = International Operations - aka OPEL/Holden -PRE VE
PPEI3 = VE Model

theres a bunch of other stuff that ties into this

If i get some time i can try see if i can get 1 of the many ecus i have to link in a vz.

My VF credit card sized 'data card' came with a 4 digit 'security code', as well as the VIN, ignition key number and engine number.
My VE data cards also include the glove box key number.
Yes, my bad…

Had to go and look and I also got the card that lists VIN, Key No, Security Code & Engine No… Also got a wheel lock nut code if I ever need another wheel (un)lock tool.

Guess I forgot the Security Code & Engine No were listed on that IMPORTANT SECURITY INFORMATION card :rolleyes:

I've taken a picture of the card in case it fades from being stored in the plastic sleeve of the Holden Folder that I got with the other docs.

haven't had a play with the factory vz yet, but have been tinkering in my vy. currently sitting in it as i type.

it has a 2011 ve os & trans, I've now got the vz pim turning on my reverse lights and aircon now. previously i had to a wire to a switch to turn it on.

it had occured to me after getting the reverse lights working by turning on the can id in the late tcm to match that of the early model, i took another look at the GMW3119 document & turned a couple more recieve/transmitting addresses on specifically to do with cruise control/aircon & my hunch was right.

besides the obvious aircon vents blowing cold air, logging via efilive shows the ac request changing as expected.

turning on my reverse lights and aircon now. previously i had to a wire to a switch to turn it on.
I installed the 6L50 in behind my 3.8 ecotec.
Sent to the auto elec. to wire the start & reverse lights relay setup. Reverse lights worked ok, but the start didn't work very well at all!

So had spent a fair bit of time under & around 6L50, & noticed mounts that resembled the mounts for nss (neutral safety switch) for the 4l60 trans.. Not exact, but close enough.
Got the nss mounted fairly easily & got rid of the relays for start & reverse lights.

Her's a pic.

Notice the shifter lever on the inside of the nss?

It's still all working 4 1/2 years later.
