I installed the 6L50 in behind my 3.8 ecotec.
Sent to the auto elec. to wire the start & reverse lights relay setup. Reverse lights worked ok, but the start didn't work very well at all!

So had spent a fair bit of time under & around 6L50, & noticed mounts that resembled the mounts for nss (neutral safety switch) for the 4l60 trans.. Not exact, but close enough.
Got the nss mounted fairly easily & got rid of the relays for start & reverse lights.

Her's a pic.

Notice the shifter lever on the inside of the nss?

It's still all working 4 1/2 years later.
This was also going to be my solution for reverse lights and PNP switch (NSS). The factory harness was already wired for it so I thought it best to reuse what's there.

the difference between a VZ 4l65e vs VZ 6l80e harness is they run the pos power for the reverse lights via the PN-SW on the 4L. On a 6L it's done via can gateway, VE does it by BCM.

If you want the gear indication to show up to 6th on the instrument cluster, you need to reprogram the cluster which only works in combination with PIM programmed as a 5 speed. by keeping the PN-SW your adding a bunch of extra work just for reverse lights, where as you can just wire in a simple relay taking the power that was originally going to the reverse lights into pin 30,85. Pim gnd to 86 & output to reverse lights to 87.

I already did it the first way prior to knowing that, but if if I ever do it again it will be this way.

Question: Did you also have to reprogram your ABS module to V6 configuration?
