Been searching for hours now trying to know what the right height/length of the oil pressure relief valve spring for the VY is. I got two of them off similar oil pump relief valves and one is considerably shorter than the other. Don't know which one to go with. Anyone?

I couldnt find the specs for the oil pressure regulator valve spring free length for VT to VY ecotecs, but I can tell you that the VS ecotec oil pressure regulator valve spring free length should equal 66.3mm. Id say the VY ecotec would be the same.

If your spring is shorter than 66.3mm, then its probably lost some of its strength and/or has probably collapsed, and a weaker oil pressure regulator spring will drop the engine oil pressure.. Id replace it with a new one.

Order one from Australia. They are a few dollars and most dealers will have one.
