Sounds like he was just looking to make you sweat. Maybe he was off duty on his way home and CBF'ed doing the paperwork.

Usually, when you get pulled over by a traffic cop, it's on the spot.

Last time I had a situation similar to this, I never heard about it again, I was just sweating it for about 3 months. Punishment enough. lol.

    PS,

You're a wanker for speeding, etc etc etc. ;)

You'll be lucky if he doesn't throw in neg driving. It's negligent to not know how fast you're driving. The ONLY thing to do EVER is say "I wasn't speeding".

But like Troy said, you look like you need a general attitude adjustment anyway. Hope you get the worst the judge has to give if it gets to court.

Cops always ask you why you were doing whatever it is they have stopped you for so you admit it. If you said you weren’t speeding or didn’t realise then it helps you in court. I would have thought you would have received an on the spot fine so you may be ok. I am not one of the “don’t speed and you won get a fine” idiots and I obviously don’t know the conditions with regard to other traffic etc you were in at the time but seriously, 100k in a 70k zone sounds irresponsible.

Speaking from experience and it may be different here in Vic, but if they do not fine you on the spot, generally nothing happens (just confirmed with a HWP guy I know down here). I got sick of sitting behind a tosser who would do 90 in a 100 zone where I couldn't pass and 110 in zones I could pass. Idiot me planted it and went around at about 135 lol. Bad move, the speed changer was an unmarked car lol. I always hesitate when passing VE wagons with tinted windows now :p

Same thing happened to me with an undercover detective.
10 under the limit when i couldn't pass and just over when i could, and when i merged on the inside lane and "under-took" him (as he put it) he claimed that was dangerous/negligent driving and proceeded to have a look in my car for drugs.

Long story short he let me go because there was nothing he could do, i think he just wanted to pull me over to be honest.

    "Name in spotlights?"

I personally think that this incident might be the least of your worries.

Some years ago, I was called as a prosecution witness in NSW because I was classed in common law as an expert witness in inebriation. It was my word against the defendant, but he was found guilty. If I had not had the "expert" witness status, the police would have had to let it go. So don't dismiss the "expert" witness possibility out of hand.

However, back to my main point. While waiting for the case to commence, I waited in the local police operations room. There on the wall for all to see was a list of registration numbers "of interest" that all police reporting for duty noted. There is a better than even chance that your vehicle registration is now on the local list. You just might find that the police show more interest in your driving behaviour than they would have in the past.

Solution? Drive within the limits imposed by the Australian Road Rules. Then you have nothing to worry about.

Ummm... An undercover police officer of any level will not blow their cover to deal with a traffic infringement.

    Lol!

I got away with using that line once, back in my stupid days when 120 was 100. It was a brave move IMO because he had already threatened to impound my car but thought I'd try it.....got off with a 'don't do it again, you're too young to do something stupid'

He probably means a plain clothed detective/officer. Most people would have realized that.

Plain clothed is VERY different to under cover though. Regardless of what he meant to say. If what he actually says is something completely different, then people will get the wrong idea. Well, most people will get the wrong idea.

It's like saying "I went to the supermarket and bought a bottle of milk" when you actually bought a bottle of juice. That's how different an under cover officer and plain clothed officer are.

Yeah man, the way I see a fine is $0.10 for every time I've sped, snapped 2nds, done line lockers before the green lights showing and over taken people in the break down lanes this year. Attitude won't change pal, but I will play the game to get my own way :D

Don't you have to be charged with something to be taken to court ? some cops are actually nice about traffic issues because they see them as minor. Just depends if he was a highway cop or not, but why wouldn't he have given you a ticket for whatever speed he reckons you were going ? Anyway from your last post you drive like a tool and need a court appearance recallibration. Be funny if that cop reads this thread and decides to grill you LOL.
