Hi all, new here, 1st post also :) I love the forum, has helped me heaps already!

Anyways, my ignition barrel crapped out this morning, old mate wanted $220 for a new barrel, yeah no thx mate!
So I set out to get a couple of switches and a push button to wire it up myself. ($35 by the way)
All was well, everything worked and she started with no dramas, after testing it a couple of times it stopped working.
From what I can gather, the purple starter wire going into the engine bay somewhere has gone dead.
I can turn it over by shorting the starter fuse, but it wont fire up now :(

Any idea what might have gone wrong?

The little wire on the side of the ignition barrel (key reader?) is this an the immobilizer wire?
If so, how can I bypass it?

The whole idea is to not be able to bypass it.

If you do.
anyone can get in your car and drive off with it.
goodluck with that lol

PS, if you screw it up you will need to get a new immobiliser module, which is more expensive than a barrel. plus you cant install yourself unless you have the software to do so...
needs to be linked with your ECU and you will need the security key from holden

hmm, ok, well I now have a completely keyless, push-start ignition with 2 aux switches and a hidden kill switch.
Poor man pays twice... when the IQ is lower than 80.... lmao.
Took a while, but I got it figured out, when I get my camera back I'll take some photos, looks pretty neat, stock even:smoking:

lmao, nah, they gotta get into it 1st mate, the alarm and all still works fine + I usually dead lock it, and by the time they trace the 3mtrs of hidden cable to find the kill switch, I'll have a knife dancing around inside their neck.
See, it's not just a push button, there's a spring switch (the kill switch) attached to the key reader cable that needs to be activated to engage the immobilizer, or the push button don't do anything.
I thought it through, it's a pretty solid setup.
