yeh that kinda helps... but i mean.. what i'm after.. is putting the key in, somehow acknowldging the key is in, then pressing a button to start... the only problem i can see, is making a timer to 'hold the button down' for a few seconds while it turns over..

I don't think a timer is a good idea because if it starts instantly and your timer keeps the starter going for a few seconds you will eventually do damage to the starter and flywheel. You would have to do it manually so you can release the button when the engine starts.

hrm.. the new land cruiser does it as well.. but not with a push button.. as soon as you turn the key, it starts (as in.. you don't have to hold the key in a start position)

If you are going to put the key in why not just turn it?
