I read something a while ago 'When a pilot makes a mistake, the pilot dies. When ATC make a mistake, the pilot dies' You'd think the animosity would be the other way around
and another Qantas plane has to turn back to destination after smoke in the cockpit LOL you cowboys probably do things a bit different to use here. we are still a bit backward
Did anyone notice the escape slide is ontop of a tree about 20ft off the ground. fug I'd love to have been watching people coming off the end of that!
It cost Qantas 100 million american dollars to repair that aircraft. A new Boeing 747-400 was worth 180 million at that time. Do your math and you will find that Qantas repaired it so that it didn't register as a hull loss or in layman's terms a write off.
Exactly!!! Saying it would have been "written off" otherwise is BULLSH!T!!! If your car has $20,000 of damage and is worth $30,000, the insurance company is only going to get it repaired. Cheaper option wins if it's also viable. Not to mention the revenue lost from the extra time being on a waitlist for a new Boeing 747 vs the time it's out of action for repairs.
RAAF hate everyone, ATC are usually a bunch of friendly blokes Thats about the truth, especially if you are IFR or in class C airspace, IFR (instrument flight rating) you have your head on the controls, and listening to the tower, you do what they say, if they #### up, you go into a mountain and your friends and family say how much of a great bloke you were.
