    Hey guys

Just got some new MSD coils, and one has a crack in it (pic attached), do you think this would be a problem?

    Cheers

I'd get it changed over if its an Australian supplier, bit more of a pain if they're off shore

The word crack and the word coil should never appear in the same sentence, have it exchanged.

    Cheers for the reply,
Yes cracks and coil packs dont mix, what I should of asked is whether a crack in that part of the coil would effect anything? It looks to me as though this part of the coil isnt that susceptible to internal damage, as there are gaps around that gold sleeve anyway? I dunno just seeing what some more experienced people know.

And yes its an overseas order... I emailed them anyway to ask about replacements...(hopefully not necessary!)

Meh, whether the actual section cracked will interfere with the performance, who knows how how deep the damage really is, IMO chase a replacement would be my first choice.

Yep, gotta love chinese manufacturing =(

If its a hassle to get a replacement, maybe i can dodge it up with some silicone?... =D

Not trying to ruin your thread but you know those MSD coils are actually worse than factory right.

It should work, as intended, but it proves their quality control is not up to scratch.........

I would of got standards, but they are very expensive compared to MSD, the car seems to be going well though for now.

Also, JEGS are awesome, they are going to send me another one without me having to return my coil with the crack in it.

I have seen a coil crack before on a VP Commodore. Not only did it have a bit of a miss in the engine but that coil was getting very hot to the touch, while the other ones felt good still.

    Warranty....

EDIT: Just had a look at your picture, it didn't crack like that, but the top of the coil was cracked. It was aftermarket as well.

thread dig, but I thought it was worth mentioning that it wasnt a crack, it was some sort of resin or glue...lol. I must need glasses.
