As above The rules are outrageous I must admit... Not allowed to drive crappy little Hyundai turbos which still have less power than the sv6, but are allowed to drive these just fine. I'm not complaining though - I get to have my dream car
Really makes you wonder doesn't it? Unfortunately, their blanket rules often disadvantage the ones doing the right thing. Anyone buying an Hyundai wouldn't even consider that its apparently "Too Powerful" for a P-plater Lol. Also, I 100% back up anyone telling you to get a Series 2 if you can. While I'm very happy with my MY10, the thought is always in the back of my mind that "the series 2 has this, but mine doesn't". There are ones around for 30k and under, but they are few and far between and you'll need to haggle well. Although, the prices should drop a bit since the MY12 is now out. The thing about the series 1 is that it misses things that I'd expect for a car they spent a billion dollars in development on. Just simple things like a USB port. I bought a little USB adapter for $1 off ebay though, so now my ipod works. Really speaking, the series 2 is what the original ve should have been. For a billion dollars, Holden should have built "The Smartest Commodore Ever" already.
Hi mate, I to went from a Series I to a II and the difference inside with IQ is worth it alone IMO, i had a quick look online for your area and heres a couple of options maybe, good luck mate: 2010, HOLDEN COMMODORE, Melbourne, Dealer Used, $27,999 at carsguide.com.au 2010, HOLDEN COMMODORE, Melbourne, Dealer Used, $29,300 at carsguide.com.au 2010, HOLDEN COMMODORE, Melbourne, Dealer Used, $28,990 at carsguide.com.au
I find myself asking a similar question... I love the wilfire colour - which means a series 1 (and a few thousand dollars cheaper), or alternatively if I was to go a series 2, it would be the poison ivy colour. Series 1 is more in the price range and preferred colour, but the updates to series 2 are quite tempting if I could find the right deal... There are some series 2's in Brisbane with around the 35K km mark, and are 09/10 plated. My main questions would be are there any issues with the initial series 2 versions, and I wonder if these cars (all similar kms and build date) might be fleet or lease cars?
One more question sorry guys haha - Does the MY9/10 etc come in to play when choosing the 2010 series II? If so, how would I spot the difference?
Nup. Series 2 is MY11 and up only. Manufacture date for the MY11's is from Sep 2010 by memory (last couple of years at least that's when MY change over... so people buying end of year cars feel a little better about it at full price). Terrific marketing by the car makers to implement near end of year MY updates... before that they had a tough time clearing the decks at end of year.
Found a 2011 Series II with 11,000kms on it which with a trade in of my current car, got the price down to $28,990 (was asking $34,990 but managed to haggle them to buy my car for $6,500 and maybe more) and possibly less (going back wednesday to confirm - told the salesman I'd seen similiar condition for 2011 for a starting price of 29,000 so i'd be able to get it down further [wasn't 100% truthful mind you]) and he said he'd see what he could do if I was "more than just a maybe" - of course I bought my car a year ago and 6,000kms less for $5,700, and the old man who traded it in before me traded it in for $4, so I'm getting a bit of a profit Is this a good price? I've had two work mates so far recommend me auction sites "manheim" and "pickles" saying I could get a lot better deal... Had a look and they don't actually have what I want there. Decisions... decisions...
Visual condition was great. No scratches/dints/fading inside or out and apparently was a holden executives car. Was a bright yellow in colour - first I've seen in yellow... Oh and for my above post, I meant $4000, not $4
Hmm.. Sorry for double post, but I've been told by a friend (also a mechanic) that the newer commodores seem to consume a heap load of oil after 40,000kms and he's apparently already done 4 engine rebuilds on commodores from years 2008-2010 which have hit the 100,000kms mark. Can anyone confirm if this is a known issue?
they have a problem with sludging up if you don't maintain them and service them regularly i would think the 4 his done are just a rare few plenty of people on here including me Haven't had any oil issues....make sure the right oil is put in too...if the engines all had this problem Holden would have had to do a recall on them
My SV6 has 42,500 on the clock. It used quite a bit of oil between 15-30,000 service but has settled down now. The car is serviced at Holden and they use Castrol Magnatec so I assume it won't do my car any harm.
Thanks guys. I figured as much. I'd doubt there'd be many newer SV6's over 100,000kms anyway, I'm looking at ones from Jan 2011 now so should be fine (touch wood)
S1 sidi is alot better than S2 IMO although the S2 has the IQ system thats all it has going for it, air vents in the series 2 look cheap and nasty (round lol) and i have 2 friends who bought S2 and they are already having problems with IQ system.. Edit: S1 front bumpers look alot better than s2, and the 2010 sidi sv6 has same seats as S2 and S1 wheels look way better than S2
^^^^ but at least the round vents can cool your face as they are at that height, were as S1 didn't get past my shoulders, & 2010 models dont have the same seats as S2 as they dont have the bolsters, also they have full ipod intergration & usb with no alternator whine and bluetooth streaming.
