So i am wondering if a l67 overheated would the block still be ok? i dont care for anything other than a block. as there is one for sale atm that was removed due to overheating and thinking of getting it only has 178k on engine, there is no balancer but the flex plate is attached could i rotate that to see if the crank is ok?

Depends how hot it got. I have seen a Ford inline six with a warped block, might not be so much of an issue with short V6 engine. It would want to be pretty cheap before I'd part with my cash. $70 - $80 it might be ok. The issue with excessive heat is the rings can lose tension.

I know you want to do rebuild but aren't the full L67s fairly cheap over there anyway? Rather than mess with turning a L36 into L67 it would be cheaper to buy a low km SC engine, even if you rebuild the L67 i think you will still be in front.
If it was Tas it would be a different story as SCs are fairly rare over here.

I'm thinking if you find a low km L67 you could rering it and replace mains and BEs without even taking the crank right out. These old engines have a pretty good lifespan if you don't hammer them too much.

? losh1971 i dont understand?
What I'm saying is i think it would be more economical to freshen up an L67 rather than buy SC pistons and having to rebore an old Eco engine.

ok what if i stay the 9:5:1 compression of the L36 and freshen up just the bearings and crank i heard M90 makes more power on the higher comp and boost kicks in at a lower RPM that with a tune would that work? just to freshen the crank and bearings is about $600 inc derlivery
