I just installed the V6 holden cold air intake today, but it just doesn't seem that it would give much benefit much over the stock intake. There isn't a large opening and the air flow wouldn't be great as far as i can see. I removed the seal just in front of the intake to increase airflow, but still i can't see how the benefit can be derived. Some discussion and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. -Chris
cold air, as opposed to hot air coming from behind the radiator for a start? one thing you want to do is get a heatgun and heat the intake mouth and widen it a tad, helps. do a search, theres been many a discussion on this before, but sometimes youve gotta sift through the useless/non helpful threads that come up
its just the fact that its onfront of the radiator and out of the enginebay so theres no possible way for it to suck any hot air
Oh ok, that makes a bit more sense i suppose. I've actually been searching all day and couldn't really find the discussion i was looking for, so i just decided to make one .
the ss inductions also have a metal scoop that drops in front of the radiator and a full mouth intake...pity they cost stacks...
If you measure the actual area of the cold air intake versus the standard one, you will find that the cold air one has a much larger intake in terms of area, ie centimetres squared.
