VR s2 Acclaim/VK IS GONE :(
hello,
as you might know i have just bought a vk minus the motor for a project and learn how-to car (learn how to build car better)

anyway i just wanted to know to all 202 motors fit into vk's? it's an 84 berlina that had a 234ci stroker 2 supra 5 speed then 2 borg 5 speed and it has an auto now and it also had a 10 bolt salsbury diff then 2 a stock vk diff.(speeling. can't remember what there called lol)

lol this car has had a hard life because my :driving: :driving:

so yea it now has a 3 speed trimatic auto and vk borgwarner diff. i was thinking that because 202's are the same motor (sort of) they would have the same mounts.

another question

what would i need for a vn/vp conversion? would i just need the complete motor or would i need the motor, gearbox, tailshaft, power steering rack, ECT.

another question (last 1)

what would a 253/308 bolt onto the 202 mounts? or am i right thinking that i would need new mounts for the above to engine swaps?

thankyou for reading this lllooonnnngggg type-up and please help me

Also the Only way to get a 10 bold Salisbury diff in a VK is a factory V8, the 6 cylinder ones are 8 bolt.
To put a V8 in you do need V8 engine mounts, the 6 cylinder ones are to small.

WTF....???..no such thing as an 8 bolt. All VK's have 10 bolt Salisbury Diffs. The 6cyl models have 'mini' Salisburys. The only diffrence is the V8 Disc brake diff to the 6 cyl drum standard & the ratios.

Haven't you counted the bolts that hold the crown wheel on a 6 cylinder diff, there is 8 of them. The 10 bolt have 10 bolts holding the crown wheel on. Even looking at a VB-VK parts manual from Holden today, they even called them "8 bolt diffs on 6/253 and 10 bolt on 5 litre Commodores".

You are on the right track. You need a donor car. V8's have a different cross member aswell as mounts. They use a different yoke and uni joint aswell to handle more torque through the drivetrain.

As for V6 conversions, there are a few guys on this forum that have sucessfully done this and some to a damn fine extent, you'll need a donor car from a VN to VT.

VY's and forward are still to expensive and too complicated.
All you need to do is make a decision as to a V6 conversion or a V8. If you want a V8, aim for a VN - VS donor car and you can get an EFI 5ltr going in you VK body (hot).

Baring in mind however, V6 rebuilds done right can output as much a V8's. Think about this.
Good luck

don't bother useing the motor from that car u saw on the side off the road as u'll have to put the new motor number into ur state road place, i.e, vic roads if in victoria and yes the mounts are different from 6-8, also think about a v6 conversion or efi v8, and u'll have to get a custom made tail shaft from my understanding to suit if u go efi v6/v8 as the tail shafts are different lengths from urs due to the cars being different sizes.

oh yeah with that motor from the other car, the other car could be stolen and if it shows up when checked, u'll get rammed hard by the cops.
