quick question on cold start rattle

hi everyone my 2009 omega ve commodore is in a holden workshop at the moment i booked it in with the dredded 3 second rattle on cold start up.turns out the timing chains are fine and dont need replaced.there were no faults comming up either.the mecanic said there is some slight scoreing on cams on the left side and a wee bit of sluge on same side.has any body got any advice were else we should be looking?.thanks in advance.........have a great day

Ive heard this can be an issue also. Although I have never had it myself.

I think they can be removed with a bit of knuckle scuffing

Update got car back gave them 700 dollars to find nothing.started it next morning the rattle is back almost stalling the engine this time....over it.....

I feel your pain. I refuse to go to holden unless its a job only they can do. They charged me $80 just to plug up their computer only to tell me i had the latest software, no update needed !

guy I brought some VE wheels off recently said the O ring in the sump deteriorates and causes a rattle, drop the pan and replace...
