there not illegal to sell in WA but they are illegal to use in ALL oz.
from wot i know, i used to use one, not the USE TO, it ended up costing a good $1600 fine for using it(NSW)

i bought it over in the states and it was suposibly UNDERTECABLE but i dont belive they are worth the risk.

the cops showed me how it worked and said my model was the newest one they had on there LISTS(upgraded detectros of detectors:)

i know belive in NSW the fine is more and 4ish demerit points

 yeah... I think I'd prefer to pay the speeding fine, learn my lesson and get on with life. $1600!!!

I love that scene in "the Castle", pretty sure most have seen it. How much did you pay for it? Coz it certainly didn't pay for itself lol.

I think the correct offence is "drive vehicle with speed evasion article" (don't quote me on that, never had the pleasure of handing a ticket out for that one) and it is worth $1067 now. No demerit points. If you want to know the going rate on fines go to this link.

    http://www.policensw.com/info/traffic/index1.html

I don't know when this page was last updated but if you really, really want to know the current going rate for this offence let me know.

    Cheers

just get an all band scanner and program teh frequencies they use for thier radar guns. these frequencies are listed somewhere on the web ive seen them before, then your scanner just plays a heap of wierd sounds when one around is in use

i got find for USING A SPEED EVASION DEVICE

they also could of bookewd my old man for SUPPLY OF SPEED EVASION DEVICE

both up near the 2k mark now i belive in NSW and sumthin liek 6 - 8 points.

they arnt worth the bother becuase once they do go off the copper gets ur speed at the same time. this is how it usally works they point at ur car and click bassily. but it does pic up way b4 if there holding the trigger on.

so they really arnt much use.

They are here in WA as we have things called MultiNova's ... they are a movable camera mounted device so the detectors work well fro those

They are legal in WA I have one and I have had one formany years, I have been stopped many times (usually not for speeding) and police can see it, can hear it and know what it is and say nothing, because they can't. How ever I would like to clarify some things, firstly I dont advocate speeding in built up areas and im the guy putting along doing the speed limit that you like to tail gate and geasture to out the window! but I use them mainly on the open country roads (on which I do alot of driving), as around citys there is to much interference from other sources. Another point I would like to bring up is they are fairly useless at letting you know of multinovas as they have a short radar area and you can usually see them at the same time the detector goes off, so they proberbly wont help you much with speed cameras, I dont have a problem with making them illegal, I have a problem with the ridiculous speed limitations put on some of our countrys roads, but that is another thread alltogether!!

The easiest fix is DON'T SPEED.
