G’day fellow VZ owners, I have an 05 VZ 6 cylinder wagon. The factory fitted radio/CD functions normally and turns off when the ignition is off and the door is opened. When I get out and close the door the radio turns on again even when I lock or deadlock the car. Any ideas on this problem?. It has only started this week.

lol sounds like a case of ghosts :) sorry that's not constructive, and i'm not a VZ owner, sounds like it could be wiring though...especially as it's happening after you close the door

take your battery terminal off for bit over an hour, might reset it, worth a go, don't worry you won't have to put the code in.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll disconnect the battery this weekend when I don't need the car.

    Still a problem

Has anyone found a solution to this problem?. Mine is still turning on after I leave the car. The Cruise has also decided to go intermittent so I am wondering if its a wiring problem. Is there a factory reset for the Computer?

Could be a faulty BCM, I have seen a problem with lights staying on after you lock them up, couses the battery to go flat, try setting the stereo to turn off with ignition and not when you open the door, its in the main setup menu on your dash board

Anyone fixed this fault? My 06 VZ SV6 Ute is playing the ghost game with me. Now when I switch the car off antenna stays up (stereo turns off). Removing the batt terminal and reconnecting makes the antenna go down. Radio switched on by itself twice this Morning!

hey mate, same exact problem! except mine turns OFF ON OFF ON constantly and it stops when it feels like it, i realised it only does it when it rains heavily so its definetely a wiring issue, however i dont even know where to start looking so ive just decided to deal with it

    Thought I had it.....

Hey Henrytad I thought I had narrowed it back down to the drivers side door switch pulled it to bits cleaned it out (had a wee bit of corrosion on it) re assembled it and it was fine for over a week. Just yesterday it started playing up again got back to my car after a rescue and the tunes were banging out to themselves!. So I have swapped the switch with the passengers side one but in the process of screwing and unscrewing the screw doesn't tighten fully! (off to find a bigger screw now). We've had the same conditions here in NZ raining fairly heavily. It got to one point my antenna wouldn't go down either just disconnect the batt terminal and reconnect goes back down from there (but doesn't solve the problem).

So far I have tried, disconnecting battery over night, cleaning drivers side door switch, swapping drivers for passengers switch. Next move get the BCM reflashed or replaced.

Gotta love this sorta stuff, impossible to fix yourself, expensive to palm off to a lecky, but too annoying to ignore.

Yep problem disappeared for 2 months 3 weeks now hello back again!! and it hasn't even been raining. May look at replacing both switches with new ones and continue to diagnose from there...... Unless someone has solved this mysterious issue!

Most likely drivers door switch, no need to replace any other door switches, new ones have a seal on them to prevent water entry.

    similar problem

I had a similar problem, id lock my car, go inside and hear my system. id have to unlock the car, put my key in turn it on turn it of and open door for it to close,
I got my battery replaced as it kept going flat and and i don't have that problem anymore. So, it either can be your batter, or something with the terminals.

Yeah cheers guys I rechecked both drivers and passengers switches. Gave them a clean up with contact cleaner and a wire brush (on the copper parts) to no avail this time. But this time I sat in the vehicle and locked it, whilst sitting there with the doors locked the radio back lights were flashing on and off, the 3 way cigarette adapter red power light was flashing on and off and relays ticking away. Seems like the vehicle is getting power (whilst car is locked). So disconnected the adapter and tried again still does it so write that one out. I also took the battery terminals off today and scrubbed them up and re tightened. I'm down to two train of thoughts dodgy BCM or earthing problem maybe?

Interior light turns off and on perfectly with doors open/closed. Does not flash whilst radio back light is flicking on and off etc. I'll keep narrowing this fault down because it looks to be a commonish fault with a few people and a fix would be great :)

    Thoughts?

Ok for future people searching for a fix. I had it in at Holden today. They actually tracked it to a faulty antenna! I'm a wee bit dubious about this but vehicle seems back to its normal self. Antenna is doing what it should. Auxiliary power isn't flicking on and off. Fingers crossed its the end of it for me.

I had this, and strange as it sounds, it was water getting into the aerial power plug. Some cleaning and silicone (dielectric) grease and it hasn't come back!
