hi all ive got a VY series I that i bought recently and it has a strange ass problem with the stereo it seems it wants to turn itself up full blast at any random moment:surprise: and now just does it all the time and i have to just leave the bastard switched off is this a usual problem im obviously gonna have to yank this POS out and replace it but do you thunk i have a short somewhere so i can have some sound for now untill i can swap this thing out or is there a solution to this problem
it is a blaupunkt headunit single disc:bomb: if anyone has any solutions i keen to here them

when it turns itself up... do you attempt to turn it down? if so what happens? When it rises in volume, do you see the display show the volume going up or does it show nothing different just track name or radio station.

Had this problem, turned out one of my volume buttons on the steering wheel was stuck.

Hmm try some contact cleaner and air to blow it out ?could be dirt / grime

i turn it down and i do see the volume display go up but when i turn it down it turns right back up sometime and sometimesime it stays down for about 2-3 mins then turns up when i brake or turn the wheel around a corner or somthing like a round-a-about

does the steering wheel control just unscrew i might try giving it a bit of a clean do i take it apart to do that?

Yep, Terry if you can to get your hands on some alcohol to clean it out with.

It can also be the rotary knob on the unit itself.
