Cop was goin past me in the morning on the way to work i knew i was speeding an didnt want a fine so i figured i'd try an get away, stupid decision i know, he caught up with me at work and impounded my car an now i have to go to court, im getting charged with carless driving, endangering the public, losing traction on purpose and trying to get away doing 110+.

Anyone got any idea what the minimum might be that i might get away with?

110 in what speed zone. what state are you in.

unsure how he can get you for losing traction and 110kph unless you're spinning the wheels at 110 in which case i thought he'd at least stop you on the spot.(was he flashing lights and sirens at you?)

but,one of my mates here in vic got clocked at a crazy speed on his bike, kept going, because the cop couldnt catch up. cop managed to write down his rego and caught up with him at work. he lost his licence for 12 mont after going to court. this is also after losing his licence several times before. decent fine, and he gets his licence back in april.

really need to know the story more. you were speeding yet the cop was going past you, obviously speeding himself, so mustve been in a rush, or you werent speeding by much. did he attempt to pull you over or just come to work and book you after he saw you speeding?

70 zone, im in vic, it was in what i think would be called a rural area, also.

No flashing sirens, however it was an undercover cop car.

I was speeding and the cop was going the other way, i dont know if he was speeding i wouldn't think so unless he was in a hurry like u said. He just came to work and got me later that day. He couldn't actually catch me, i was too fast for him, he was a speck in my rear view mirror but i knew he was chasing me.

no lights or sirens at all? then he cant exactly claim running from police. i didnt know i flogged past a cop when i lost my license til the red n blues went on. did you say you saw him when he came to work? and if hes going the other way, hows he going to tell you were spinning the wheels? did you?

(didnt think of him going the other way :p was only thinking of going the same direction)

my suggestion, you're gonna get done over good. dont bend over for the running from police or the wheelspin(unless you did wheelspin and at least create smoke) but take the rest like a man and do the time. it goes surprisingly quick if you keep busy.

70 zone, didnt read that before. ok so 40kph over. thats what i was done for but in a 100 zone. i got 6 points, 6 months loss and a further 3 months loss or 1yr 1point after the first 6 months and just under $400 fine. so take that as a minimum for what you'll get. mine was on the spot, no court. then add ontop careless driving and endangering public. was it on a residential sort of road? or fairly vacant?

What an idiot.... Had to say it.

Do you think running away is better than getting a fine and be done with it.
I really do hope you get a fair trial but things don't look good from what you've done.

So good luck.....also bare in mind that what you did could get others or yourself killed. Not worth it mate.

No lights or sirens at all. I first started lying then he said like i said there's 2 ways we can do this, then i started telling the truth, then later i figured if he testified in court i'd be stuffed anyway so it didn't bother me i couldn't get away with lying.

So what would minimum be do u think? 6 months and $1000 fine?

I reckon if i try hard enough to say that the reason i made the decision was because i was have a hard time keepying a job because (i have a fused hip, it's like a disability but not seen as one) so i didnt want to get a fine and possibly lose my licence for speeding and possible lose my job because of it. Then the other thing would be that i just panniced and figured i had gone too far after i realised the cop was chasing me so i couldn't stop then.

If i can say that whilst showing as much remorse as possible for what i did, i think the judge might see it my way. But yeh there's a minimum for everythign and i dont see how anyone could say anything else to get anymore sympathy than that.

Sorry i have to have my 2 cents.

Mate, you are a ****ing idiot and the exact reason on why conditions are being made so hard for new drivers and owners of modified vehicles. I hope they crush your car, send you to jail and never allow you a licence again.

    Idiot.
