Has anyone used any of the Rare Spares rust repair sections?
Im looking at them and they dont seem to badly priced, but i have heard that alot of people have trouble fitting them, but only heard about older cars, has anyone had experience with the Commodore sections, in particular the VB-VK/L sections. I will be doing the front cowel panel and spare wheel well.
I will be paying a professional to do the major work and i will do all the minor work like removing wipers window seal etc.

I did a front floor pan of my hz ute a few years ago, fit like a charm. Hired a mig for the weekend and had a mate weld it in.

Took a few hours to measure and cut out the old section then fit new one.

If I needed to do another one, would definitely go back to rare spares, unless advised otherwise.

Hmmm, how hard are they to weld in.
I have a mate who just bought a new BOC industrial mig welder, and he can weld, but i dont know if i trust him with my car, but he is a pretty good welder.

If he is a good welder than it should be no problem. I welded in a new front chasis rail on my dad's Morrie 2 years ago with a flux cored wire mig without fuss. (Had not done any serious welding for years) It didn't even need a wheel alignment after. The time you take to measure up before you cut is the key.

Might talk to him, and see, caus im quite confident in doing everything except the welding, so may be able to save a fair bit.
And how about "Cut till it fits" lol.

Haha dont worry mate i aint really gonna cut till it fits, it will be measured a thouasand times, and rethought and rethought with much consideration before the paint is even scratched.

Though in woodtech i use to do the old keeping cutting 5mm off till it would fit haha seemed to work :p
