Another thing to check is that the flange on the link supporting the washers isn't flogging out.

I've found a few like that where the supporting washer has pushed through the link pin common fault I'd guess.

I'm trusting Holden did them up but couldn't hurt to double check. Will also check the stone guards I guess. Going slowly mental..

Im starting to think this might be a wheel bearing. Has anybody had similar noises if it is damaged?

A bit left field......
The rattle is not the heat shields around the exhaust manifold/s or any of the shields further under the car?

Not really. Last November some dimbulb shunted me in the left rear door. Pushed me into a slide and I mounted a kerb. The left front bearing was replaced (was rumbling) but the right front was not done. I'm not sure on the bearings but I'm guessing they are a sealed roller type and perhaps a roller has come loose in the housing. At this point yeah, I am throwing darts at a board.

To answer your question, I have bump-tested all the shields and everything else I could think of while it was on a hoist. Three different tyre and suspension mobs have looked at it and have had no idea on the cause of the rattle. The struts, strut rubbers, strut bearings, Z bar bushes and sway bar links have all been done.

Its not a fissure or crack in the mag wheel that's moving under stress eg. around the rim edge or something in the centre block of the mag.
Maybe swap a road wheel over?

Has the rotor assembly been tested for run out? I think you mentioned replacing rotors and pads - Maybe you've replaced them by now.

Also has the wheel bearing (unrepairable I think) been looked at for run out and operational noises?

I have read somewhere that the brake rotors have to be optimized with the wheel bearings housing to minimize overall total run out for effective handbrake operation. Does the front assembly have to be optimized also under some circumstances?

Yes I think the same test applies to the fronts with regard to noise and runout (obviously not handbrake lol). Havent replaced the front rotors yet, only because they are fine. I have a pair of DBA slotted & standard GM pads ready to go. Might get them chucked on with the bearing.

New sway bar pins, radius rod and sway bar bushes replaced with Nolathane. New genuine strut rubbers and bearings by Holden yesterday. Rattle still remains over sharp bumps and road joins. Unless there might be a steering rack issue, a tie rod end or something in that area that could cause this, I'm stumped.

Anyone?
