I finally got the dealer-fitted sunroof on my VR Calais working as it should...slides, tilts and closes tightly. I have no headlining...it was removed as it was sagging and to give me access to the roof mechanism.

Anyway, the tray into which the glass retracts rattles like a coin in a coke tin. I have taped up all the wires and tightened everything I can but it seems as though the light steel construction of the tray lets it flex and rattle.

Most of the parts are riveted together, several of which I have drilled out and replaced.

Because a new headlining is going to cost me over $600, I'd dearly like to eradicate any annoying rattles before I shell out the cash. Once the lining is in, that's where it stays!

Can anyone offer their own experiences in this regard?

Yep. On top of a 1000 km return trip to have it done....two local trimmers won't take it on.

Why do people call it a hood ling ? when it's known as a Head lining, the hood lining is under the bonnet or commonly called an Insulator.

Every American Movie refers to "the engine is under the hood".

    Can anyone qualify ?

I was recently quoted $200 for to recover my headling if I remove it myself. This is in a Caprice which a few extras on the roof.

I wounder if those you drilled out is what rattling u know the other half of the rivet, there was a recall on these but I suppose that's been fixed, they also say replace the rubber around the glass with a bigger one.

You won’t find anywhere that’ll do it for much under $500 because there’s no board.

Tbh $250 is money for nothing when there’s a headlining board.

Thats what I thought, I've done several 'normal' headlinings for far less than $250 but the sunroof makes it conplicated....

They're just standard headlinings with normal backing board jobs and definitely nothing more complicated than that.
