But the torque curve is completely different too.

The SR20 has a much less user-friendly torque curve in comparison the the V6. It's not all straight power.

yes indeed the sr has a more developed torque curve and doesnt really start climbing till around 3-4k and hits peak around 5-6k, not ideal for towing or anything but they still have no trouble lugging my s14 around which is around 1500kg with me in it plus additions like stereo, fuel system, computer system and so on.
my vr ute isnt a whole lot more, the v6 has a very linier torque curve and makes plenty below 4k, but the thing is its all over after that atleast the sr can keep it pulling up to 6k.

Yeah. But it's MADE to rev harder. It's entirely different.

Put it to one of holdens new 6Ls. They rev to 7500 nicely.

there two totaly different engines, built for two totaly different circumstances. its hardly a good comparisan. the sr20 is a decent well built motor. but no it probably isnt the ideal choice for a commodore.

i do agree with dons, that the replacement for displacement is VE. but your only going to get so far with the VE before you needs more displacement, and likewise for high displacement built motors, you are only going to get so far before you hit a brick wall, and adding a turbo to increase the efficiency is the only way.

here is the dyno sheet from our s14 drift car which is the orange one in the vid and pics.

as you can see doesnt really start climbing in torque till about 4k which is when its on fullboost, has peak torque at 5000rpm and slowly drops off, i would like to see a v6 graph with roughly same power to compare the torque graphs.
