I had something simular in mind for my VL before I decided to not upgrade it... I was toying with the idea of obtaining an RB25 head, placing it on an RB30 bottom end, and getting myself a new machined crank with stronger ends and a custom cam from Craine... I didn't do it because firstly, I could afford it, but it would've been a financial strain, and secondly, it was discovered I had a badly rusting chassis, so I'm putting this money towards my new car. However, I'm just suggesting... Remember, stock RB 30 cranks don't like revving past 6000 RPM....

If you going for forced induction (or even for N/A), an RB 25 head would do you wonders for breathing, going with twin cam, 24 valve head with vvti would make a stark improvement to your engine's efficiency...

no inline motor likes reving past 6g. there's no need to anyway. you don't need to change the crank either, they already have a forged steel crank in them. the bottom end can push 1100hp. the rb25 head will cost you up to $2500 just to buy it. then you have to get it fitted which involves tapping the block to move the timing tensioner. plus other stuff. the RB30 block will push more horsepower than a rb20 or rb25.
