Hey all,

thinking of swapping my 2.5 inch catback for a 3 inch.
my question is, would it be at all beneficial or required to get my dyno tune redone after bolting on the 3 inch?

this might seem like a dumb question to some, but admittedly im a bit of a noob when it comes to cars. :banstick:

advice and tips appreciated.

Technically you need to get the ECU retuned after every modification that might affect the way the engine will perform.

Benefitial... maybe, required... no.

Has the car had any work done?

If it has some work and has previously been tuned, then you might find a few extra HP at the top with a re-tune.

I've always been of the opinion that twin 3" is too big for most 6L's. I have a 6L, cam, heads, etc and run a twin 2.5 to get some lower torque.

So if you're going for a twin 3", unless the car is worked, you're just after sound. Thus no need for a tune.

Putting a 3" on my unopened 6 litre was one of the best things I've done

Ok...I'm not sure if I am supposed to supply you with a medal at this point or...?

Just out of curiousity. You say it's one of the best things you've done. What other things have you done that you are using as comparison?

Saying goodbye to a fair whack of your low end response/torque was one of the best things you've done?

Lol if thats what happened to your car then I'm sorry if you think half an inch will make that much difference to power loss well... mines a beast ever since I went 3" with high flow cats and headers I gained 18HP at the tyres
