After only getting my car about 4 months ago and the hastles of getting it RWC and up to 100%, i havent gotten the money together to get her some insurance- dumb yes i know. Now 2 days ago i was in a shopping center carpark and rolled forward (i cant remember how, i was tired after work) no more than 15-20cm while reversing out, and forward again to get better angle out) into the rear of a ED falcon. The lady now said that the bumperbar needs replacing, as it is hanging off and there is a dent. Now there was absolutly NO damage done to my car, except a tiny 1cm x 3cm rub mark on my bumper((no dents)). Now, i know i am entitled to go around and veryfy the damage i have done, she sais that she will get a quote from HER mechanic that she goes to which is on the other side of town. Would i be entitled to get a quote from a mechanic/pb somewhere closer if she is getting it done somewhere where is going to charge me the life of my firstborn? Also how much would a rear bumper off an ED cost whereabouts?
SHE gets 3 qoutes .. YOU get the cheapest of the 3. im afraid thats how it works. unless you can come to some arrangement with her
Actually, if he is unisured she can get whatever quote she wants and he HAS to pay up, if not her insurance company will just sue.

The roof looks straight so there isnt any ripples as far as i can see. Im hoping maybe its just the clips or something broken off that hold it in place. But the bend in it is my main concern, can that just be panelbeaten back in to shape ?
that looks like nothing, i would say the mount for the bolts on the reo has been bent or the clips have poped out,
bullshit that is complete crap my dads got an ED, the bumpers . they are sturdy and made of like solid chrome. or something.. and i live next to 2 brothels, we've been hit so many times by secos trying to get into the brothel, i've seen the damage that can be caused to an ED it takes some force on the back, sides are pissy but mate the bumpers are solid. my dads been rammed so many times.... i reckon shes trying to flaunt something like a previous accident. the bumper bars would cost maybe 100 bucks from wreckers plus painting and fitting i guess. but seriously, what crap... seriously, crap. my dads ed accidently tapped, and im talking light little tap, this chick tried to sue us for 700$ dollars, NO JOKE, i had pics of it all, a small 5c coin scratch.. she tried to add in damage from previous to rort us. mate, thats pathetic, no way, those bumpers ARE strong as anything. PLUS, MY dads bumper is falling off like that too, it's general wear and just needs new clips, mAnTHATS CRAP mate, thats crap... id say this woman is rorting you
Correct. Ive had this happen to me before. Hit the back of a BA with my VH, only left 3 small scratches on the rear bar and a dent in the boot lid of the BA. Cost me 2000, bloody ripoff merchants. :bang:
DUDE, after looking at these pics, i wouldnt pay this woman anything. that is exactly how my dad's bumper is, that is just general wear and tear mate. give her nothing... seriously, that is laughable... what's she gonna do? my dads been "threatened" like a 1000 times in his life, that "Damage" is a load of crap in my opinion. no way hitting it as you claim would knock that off, and trust me, ive seen my dad ram poles and tress but seriously, how could u dint it and knock off her bumper? man, i'm laughing already.. Maybe it is wear and tear but if she goes thru insurance and gets it fixed the insurance company will send the bill and take you to court if you dont pay it. Then the onus is on you to try and prove the accident didnt take place or didnt result in that damage.

Now the way i hit it, i was reversing out of a parallell park. The car was to the right of my spot, i couldnt get enough angle to get out in 1 go- there was traffic right up my ass, plus there was a row of parked cars opposite me. So i went back as far as i could without hitting the side of the car behind me, went forward again- also as far as i could see which left about 15-20cm of room im guessing between me and the other ladys car. I went to shift her into R and i must of thought i was in P at the time and it went into D, so i lunged forward (((I DID NOT USE ANY ACCELLERATOR, ONLY TOOK FOOT OFF THE BRAKE))). My girlfriend next to me said she did only see a tiny black mark just below the darker part of the bumper but shes not 100%. Now i dont have a great knowledge of physics, but usually if you hit somehting underneath it- it will move upwards? because my bumper gash is on the top of my bumper... After a bit more examination, my bumper is a LITTLE loose and is a bit lower than it should be on the left side where it did hit.
When will you epople realise if he does nothing, the insurance company will drag him to court...great to have that beside your name, especially as you have to tell future insurers why Just pay what needs to be done, you have no evidence to say it wasnt caused by that, the fact you have no insurance means you are already in a losing position. You admitted to the accident, you now have to face the consequences.
^^^That is exactly what will happen. Trust me I know. The thing most people dont realize is the companies all farm out their debt to other companies whose sole job is to chase the money. Its not like the insurance company says hey we made x amount of dollars last year so it doesnt really matter. They just sell the debt to another company to get it off their books. Then the debt belongs to the debt collection company who doesnt get paid unless they recover the money.
yes, youre right on the physics part, although it may fall down then, but still, i dont beleive that your bumper has made hers come loose like that, that takes force, AND dinted it. i think she's exadgeratting one of the two.. i hate carpark accidents, people will rort any possibility
I will pay for the damage i have done, keyword 'I' have done. If it is an existing bump that has just been clipped in or something ill get it sussed out. Ill keep youse up to date with it. I am not trying to get out of paying for it. I admit i was 100% in the wrong, But people trying to take advantage of other people who arent in the strongest of financial positions is just plain unaustralian.
