Hi guys,

Yesterday my rear door power window decided to stop working on me (after it was wound down all the way )

Anyway, today I had taken the switch on the door apart and found that there was no foreign material that could be causing a short or fault in the electronics. So after this I had pulled apart the box housing the power window module and done a touch up job on some of the solder points that have been mentioned to do with power windows not working.

So after all this the window still didn't work from either switch (at the door or the main switch in the front of the car), so I decided to pull the door off to take the motor out and manually wind the window up. Well after I got the door off I found that I could not see the motor (or the cogs) at all.

If anyone has any ideas on how to rectify either the window not working or on how to get the window up that would be great.

Cheers guy

Umm I highly doubt it would be the same, but when I got my car the rear windows were not working...While I had one door trim off I gave the solenoid a bit of a whack and the window then worked...however i didnt use it for a week and it stopped working again so I gave the solenoid a whack and ran the window up and down like 40 times and its worked since...I've been meaning to get around to doing it to the second one as well.
So it could just be the solenoid...and the solenoid cant just be replaced cause its one unit with the motor.

Mine was obviously cause the windows just had not been used, where as urs obviously are....But still worth a shot aye?

What do you mean by the solenoid mate?

Cheers

I had that problem with my rear windows....after a while they worked again...seems they either jam sometimes or the brushes in the motor stick cause after you get them working for a while they seem to keep working.
Looking from a logical point of view you could try a battery across the motor wires in the door to prove that its the motor or the switches at fault and go from there.

Am after an electric wiring diagram for the electric windows of my 1998 VT Commodore. The rear passager door electric window just suddenly decided to go down when I turned the iginition on and now won't go back up.
Have pulled the door apart and there appears to be no power to the door. Is there an inline fuse somewhere that may be blown? All other windows work fine. Would greatly appreciate help! Thanks

hi,
your power windows run in series from your main block switch,in the centre console through to your rear window switch and then to the motor,so if your rear window switch is faulty or disconnected, your window wont wind up or down"even off the main switch"
i think you should inspect your wiring harness in the rear door, the "s"bend between your rear door and the "b" pillar
make sure there are no broken wires,
hope this helps ;)
