Rear shudder worse after replacing centre bearing. Vx wagon.

Not a happy camper. Took my 200k vx Acclaim wagon in to get the centre bearing replaced at Midas. Picked it up after closing time and its shuddering like a naked eskimo in a blizzard under medium-heavy accelleration. Never did this before.

FYI...i replaced centre bearing because of a shudder at 90+km ph. Midas diagnosed the problem. It appears rhey have made the shudder 10 time worse...and what worries me is its happening under accelleration which it wasnt before.

Any clues/tips. Im worried about driving it. Yes, its an awful shudder.

I will be taking it back to Midas next week when they reopen. A little insight would help.

Maybe. But it wasnt before. Thats the wierd thing. If they had driven the car around the block, they would have noticed the problem in the first 100m.

Can you elaborate on that a little? Hadn't given any thought to the auto...Odd that the issue arose after doing the centre bearing (which wasnt that bad...i was just being conservative and got them to check it out and they said the centre bearing had a split in it so i said fix it)

I wonder if you have a problem with this? I replaced the broken one (after the deep pan was dented) in our VX wagon with same that was there. Now I see that I should have changed to the deep pan version of the filter. We are overfilling our Auto until I get under the car again to change it.

I'm guessing lowandslow is right though you would expect any qualified mechanic knows they need to reassemble the tail shaft halves in the same alignment they came off in.
No guarantee they test drove it, sounds like they didn't bother.

I suspect you are both right. Im hoping when i take it back they will try different positions and test drive to ensure they get it right. Im expecting given it was ok before, it should be ok again.

You could check to see if the unis are aligned opposite to each other or close as they can be.

really easy to bend the ears separating the halves if you arent careful
