haha, its not illegal to not have the rear view mirror. So long as the side mirrors are there.

Failing that, try sikaflex.

Lol silkaflex, that'll keep it on forever, yeah not really about the legality just that it's quite dangourous driving without one especially in a large wagon.

Well really, do you want to fall off at some point?

Sikaflex is your friend. Get some masking tape while your at it. Dab some skikaflex on the base of the mirror whack it in position and tape it up good and proper. Half and hour and Bobs your aunty.

Then the glass would break off again cos of the hanging mirror weight. I was thinking a primary brace to the roof and have the mirror connected to the glass via some thick heavy duty double sided tape so that it's not a rigid connection, that way the vibration won't break it.

Yeah if I had the money I definetly would. I'd get like a van and fill that. Maybe a future project.

Like the saying goes, do something properly do something once.

You might just have to hold off untill you can do it properly, rarther then butchering your current car?

Not really butchering, just reinforcment.
That's just like saying pulling the heads off to install a stroker kit is butchering.
