    Hey guys,

First time the rear window has fogged up bad enough to use the demister, but had some torubles - it didnt work.

Once I was back home I took off the passenger side bit that sticks to the window and gave it a bit of a clean over and then held it back on its place on the window with the demister going and about the 3 middle bars demisted but the rest didn't work.

Has anyone else had this problem? What was it like to fix?

    Cheers,
    Nick

pretty sure ive seen a "how to" somewhere on here telling you how to test and repair the heated rear screen, good luck finding it with the search function the way it is after the upgrade. lol

I've found a few topics on here that explain about the paint that conducts electricity etc..

Does anyone know if theres much involved in installing a brand new demister? Do you have to replace the back window or not?

Theres a conductive clear lacquer you can get to repair the rear demister. You just use a multimeter to find where the break is in the wires on the glass, then put two strips of tape each side of the wire and paint the lacquer over the gap between the two peices of tape to restore the broken connection.Once the tape is removed and the lacquer is dry you can not tell it has been done. This is available from most auto shops.

    Ahk sweet.

I'm pretty good with a multimeter but whats the best way to test for breaks? Just test for continuity along the strip? If they all come up fine (meaning no breaks) what would be next to try?

If there are no breaks in the wires on the glass and its not working,Id be checking the fuses and the relay under the dash. Also follow the wiring as best you can from the rear screen and check for any disconnected connectors or breaks in the wiring. The switches can sometimes be faulty. The demister button should have an orange light glowing on it when the demister is turned on.

    Cheers for the replies guys,

    - Orange demister light goes on fine so that probably rules out the fuse/relay wouldnt it?

Suppose I will just go over all the wiring and that over the weekend. Worst case I'll just get a new back window $190 aint to bad.
