they coolers themselves can cost up to 400! depends how good you want to go :)

I know, I've seen some big ones in some performance shops. Saw one once that I mistook for a smallish intercooler, this thing was huge.

just wondering why you wouldnt bypass the radiator transcooler?

If you bypass the tranny cooler your only getting a slight upgrade from what it was. If you leave it in place you get more than double the cooling.

Yes true, but if you bypass it then if the radiator tanks split you won't get coolant mixing with trans fluid...... but that's unlikely unless your radiator is 400 years old :D

Although it happened to my first car which was a volvo lol.

I have always bypassed the radiator when fitting a trans cooler so the heat doesn't transfer from one to the other. If you are putting load on the transmission and it heats the fluid up, you won't be transferring that heat to the radiator and adding another heat source for it to try and cool down. The radiator is then left to only regulate the engine temperature.

If you wanted to go one step further, fit a manual radiator to remove the coolant pipes from the tanks so there is more room for coolant, only a small amount, but it can only help.

cheers abba, will probably ask them to bypass the radiator. Although not sure if they would do that anyway.

Depends on the size of the cooler whether you run it through the radiator.
