2000 Holden Statesman WH 3.8L Supercharged V6
With my WH Statesman 3.8L Supercharged V6, i use nothing but the very very best

Oils (Penrite)
Filters (Ryco)
Plugs (BOSCH)
Leads (BOSCH)
Engine electrics (BOSCH)
Transmission Fluid (Penrite)
Brake Fluid (Penrite)

No cheap crap goes near my car

I use strictly 98RON octane rating in my statesman it has been used in it since my mum brought and now has given me
It only has 59,350 original k's on it

Every penny i put into it its because my cars are all well maintained

Why wouldn't you use a better, fully synthetic oil?

I agree, oil is very cheap in the overall scheme of maintaining a car.

I use Nulon synthetic 10W-40 at about $50 per bottle changed every 7-8000ks but I'll probably go a thicker oil next service as I get near the 300,000k mark

I use mobil 1 5W-50 in my ecotec as it cops a hard time a lot of the time. This engine has done around 250,000 km now, compression readings are good and it doesnt use any oil between changes (5000km).

Hi
Using penrite hpr 30 20w/60 lifters are a little nosier on cold start but settle much quicker...If using penrite for the first time don't stress if you see minor oil weeps and smell oily smell, will only last for a few weeks then tighten up...also do yourself a favor and get a orig holden oil filter (will be all white in color with blue holden logo on it)..they look quite a bit different from after market ones and not more than a few $$ more....

I recommend engine oil. Seriously, paying a million bucks on racing spec oils on an old engine is pissing up a wall your VB for the night!
