    Opinion or opinionated?

Well MOTIV8 certainly livened up the discussion.

Some people can express their opinion without denigrating others. I guess some cannot!

Umm.. no they didn't! I can see how Christianity/Catholicism of 2006 years or whatever is related to Judaism (old testament is a Jewish book I think).. but not Buddhism or Islam

  5. I voted NO. If there was a God...natural disasters etc wouldn't happen...I just feel sorry for the people who kid themselves that when they get to 'heaven', they're going to meet their God. How disappointing for them to realise (if that's at all possible after death! :p) that they've wasted their whole life praying to something that doesn't exist. People who believe in God believe that they will have a new, different life continuing in Heaven. I think Heaven and Hell are just ficticious stories we were told to keep us well behaved! I DO, however, believe in mediums... which in my book has nothing to do with religion. Also, my partner is a Christian, and we have discussed what we would do if we were to have children, when it comes to christening them. My partner strongly believes in being christened, and I don't have a problem with my children being christened. I will just leave that part of their life to their father to teach them about, if they choose to learn, and they can make their own minds up about religion, as either way i will NOT tell them it's a load of shite or not. And their is no way I would ever try to force them to take my beliefs and believe what I believe. Religion is a personal choice, and the above opinions are MINE, doesn't mean that I am going to knock anyone else's. But seeing as the Q was asked, this is my answer.

I think everything happens for a reason. there are things that are beyond human comprehension, there is a limit to our minds and of course there will be things that dont make sense to us. God also can't control everyone. we have free choice with our lives to do or not do what God wants.
maybe because of the conditions in which they live. for example, black people typically come from the hotter areas of the world.
Because God made a promise to never destroy the world like that again. since the flood Jesus died on the cross for sin, meaning that we could have a relationship with God.

Yup, sad WACKOS like famous biologist and creator of the BBC TV series "The Human Body", Dr Robert Winston.

We religious types have some handy WACKOS in our camp. Like Albert Einstein (Jewish) and Isaac Newton (Christian). Not a small number of Nobel Science Prize winners too. So sad.

If I might quote another of your paranoid, religious WACKOS, Dr Martin Luther King Jr.:

"Science investigates, religion interprets. Science gives man knowledge which is power, religion gives man wisdom which is control."

    Sad indeed.

I believe in what i can see. Until jebus comes round to my place with a set of stockies, he aint getting nothing from me!

your born, you live, you die, then its lights out!

something that is forced upon people is wrong. Like saying you can't have sex before marrige, we all know mary slept with all 3 wisemen, hence how she was pregnant. Religious people just don't want to accept it.

btw, if your catholic, stop breathing, cause your sinning!

Can't speak for Buddhism, but Islam is directly descended from Judism.

Muslims believe Mohommed is the third and final great prophet, after Moses and Christ.

I hope you don't take offence to this, but a quote from Martin Luther King Jr might possibly carry a fraction more weight than one from "Stealthy".

At least to some people, I'm sure.

Now I don't want to denigrate your contribution to the growth of human knowledge and enlightenment. I'm sure you are "right up there" with Johannes Kepler (another Christian).

    amen!

    :p

on a more serious note - my answer is no, for a combination of reasons.... once again a big case of 'each to their own' - believe in what you may. Just don't come to my house and try to convince me! :)

who says its forced upon anybody? we have free choice, you can choose to follow religion and morals or not. I think most religions provide a good basis of morals to live your life. no one is saying that you absolutely have to do that, but if everyone did follow those morals, people wouldn't land themselves in as much ****.

i don't take offence, thats the whole problem, ALL religions just bignate(spelling) people over other, to which your doing to. Who's to say that one persons opinion is more valid than anothers. Martin Luther King Jr may be more known than i, but thats what pisses me off, people like your religious self saying he's better than me (mind you, saying the opposite in a blatently sarcastic way)

i really don't care, i only posted that because of how stupid religion is in my opinion, but if yuour one to feel what they say must be true cause their religious, thats pretty sad on your part
