    Hi,

I'm sorry if this has been answered. I tried to find the answer, but no luck.

So the remote locked the car (NOT deadlock) and now it will not unlock.

I will get the remote replaced tomorrow. (I put the spare in a SAFE place, now I can't find it!)

*** BUT, can I open the car without the alarm going off?

I remember opening the door with the key once before (problem with actuators), but the alarm went off and I turned the alarm off by using the remote.

    Regards,
    Craig

Happens to my VY now and then just unlock the car with the key, the alarm will go off just start the car and the alarm will stop then your key will start again.

I think I will replace the remote anyway. The rubber buttons have been replaced several times and I think it is original to the car, which would make it nearly 10 years old.
I really can't have the alarm go off at 5am because of a crappy remote.

    Thanks again.

I hate having a car alarm for this very reason, i leave at 5am for work, every few months it refuses to work, so unlock it manually, then its a race to get the car started to turn the alarm off ! Happens with both keys even with a new battery i jammed in.

I had a remote on a vp wagon completly die I even put a new battery in and still wouldn't work and being an aftermarket alarm I had open the door set the alarm off open the bonnet cut the speaker then go underneath the dash and cut and by pass the alarm wires lol

    Just a quick update.

I rang Holden and they wanted $142 ($92 Remote head and $50 programming). But they gave me a contact of a local locksmith. Hmmmmm. Anyway the locksmith charged $120 (Remote head and programming).
It took the locksmith literally 10 minutes. Not a bad bit of coin for 10 minutes work.

Ironically, the old remote started working, but it was going to be a pain in the .... if it stopped. So I thought a new one was the best option.

    Cheers,
    Craig

Best bet for the time being is have it unlock the car once then start the car and from after that lock the car with the key instead of the remote for the time being
