Anyone removed the A-Pillar trim?

If so, how?

I want to run a cable from behind the glove box up the passenger side a-pillar and then along the roof liner and down to behind the rear view mirror. Obviously inside the trim looks a LOT nicer.

Cheers!

You can remove the A pillar trims without disturbing the airbags.

Prise up the little square covers with "AIRBAG" written on them using a flat tool in the little notch.

Underneath, there is a torx screw. Remove that, and pull the trim away from the car and up at the same time. There is a clip halfway along to disengage.

When putting it back in, the process is reversed, but make sure the rubber seal around the door aperture sits over the A pillar trim, not under it, and make sure the two tabs at the base go back in their corresponding slots.

does it have air bags behind it?

No. The airbags come down the side of passengers from the rood lining.

And I know people have changed over their a-pillar trim with after market, moulded guages in them. So they are removable. I just want to know how. :D

And you can remove any of them without logging a DTC if you follow the correct procedure to disarm the system first.

...which is irrelevant here anyway as you don't need to touch them to get the A pillar cover off. Just don't interfere with the wiring and you'll be fine.

Did you totally miss the post where I gave you step-by-step instructions to do exactly what you wanted?

(Hint: it's the third one. I made it bigger and bolder for you.)

yes I did because it wasn't there... damn the quirks of using "quick reply" instead of "reply".

No probs. Getting the trims out isn't that difficult...
