Ugh—! Wandering around waiting for a coffee this morning and on both rear wheels I saw the ugly residue of adhesive pads where old wheel balance weights had been (I am amazed I haven't seen it before, but then I don't usually ogle my wheels...). I checked with a tyre fitter business nearby to ensure these 'pads' weren't an indicator of the weights falling off while travelling (he laughed, and confirmed they are sticky pads from previous weights). The old weights have long gone, but the ugly brown adhesive sticky stuff remains. So how do I get this irksome, stubborn adhesive off the black wheel surface? I have tried IPA, Zoff (an odorous hospital-grade adhesive remover), metho, thumbnail scratching and a good deal of crude swearing, but the sticky pads remain. Well, brains trust, how would you go about (easily!) removing this residue?

Orange power ! Works best by far on sticky residue...double sided tape etc...

Plastic scraper,turps,elbow grease,never fails.
This is alot easier when the wheels are removed.

I hate that shite. You'd reckon in this day and age they would be able to use a heavy duty 3M-like removable strip. The ones where you just pull on the tab and stretch it out until it comes off nice and cleanly.

Maybe the crude swearing should have been directed at the mob that last did your wheel balancing.

I’d assume they‘d remove the old weights and clean up the residue before spinning up the wheel to balance them
